SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

 

YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE("THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
BY LOADING THE SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT LOAD THIS SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.

 

Grant of License
The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the Software or designated by its supplier ("the equipment"). You are permitted to use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer your rights under this license to a third party.


Acceptance
You shall be deemed to have accepted the terms of this Agreement by loading the Software into any computer.


Duration
This license is effective until terminated. The license will terminate where you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation.


Ownership of Software
You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the title and ownership of the Software shall be retained by its owners.


Copying
The Software and its documentation are the subject of Copyright.
You may not make any copies nor cause others to make copies of the Software except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this Agreement.
You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement, unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its documentation.


Limitation of Warranty
The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. Defective media will be replaced when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along with a copy of the purchase receipt.

THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.


Exporting Law
You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply with all such export control laws.


Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of California, USA and is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal District courts for the Central District of California by a judge and not a jury.

This Readme file contains information about using GDI printer driver for Windows XP/Server2003/Vista/7/8. Please make sure to read this before installing GDI printer driver.

[1]How to install GDI Printer Driver

(1) Installing GDI printer driver at the first time.
Installation steps for WindowsXP/Server2003/Vista/7/8 driver
If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow these steps;

Start Windows and log on as Administrators or Power Users.
When using a driver downloaded from the Internet
After downloading the driver from the Internet, extract the file(s) to a folder of your choice. From the [Start] menu, point to [Settings], and then click [Printers]. In the Printer folder double click [Add Printer], and click "Next >".

Follow the Wizard guidance and select a printer connection method (My Computer or Network Printer Server / Local or Network Printer), then click "Next >" to continue.

The following explanation applies when you have selected a [Local] connection method.

Select “VC-20 USB” as a port. After selecting, click "Next >".
To install the downloaded driver, click [Have Disk] then [Browse] to locate the folder where you had extracted the downloaded driver, then click "OK".
When installing the driver from a driver CD-ROM, click [Have Disk] button in "Manufacturers:" / "Printers:" window.

Insert the CD-ROM into the CD ROM Drive, enter the path (e.g. D:\Drivers\Printers\Win2K_XP\Languages) of the designated Drive then click [OK]. (You can also navigate to the Drive by clicking the [Browse] button).

Select the printer to use.
After selecting, click "Next >".

Specify printer name. And if you want to use installed printer as the default printer, check "Yes".
After specifying, click "Next >".

If you want to share installed printer with other network users, indicate and set sharing.
After above, click "Next >".

Print test page to confirm that the printer is set up properly. Check on "Yes(recommended)" , then click "Finish", and finally , the installation is completed.

After completing above operation, you can use GDI printer driver for WindowsXP/Server2003/Vista/7/8.


(2)Updating GDI Printer Driver
Please follow these installation steps to update the printer driver from old version to new version;

(On Windows XP/Server2003/Vista)
Start Windows and select the printer icon in Printers folder, then click "File"-"Delete" and delete the printer.

Open "Printer Server Properties" from File Menu in Printer folder, then click "Driver" tab. Click the old driver name and then click "Remove" button. After that, click "OK" button to close the window.

 

(On Windows 7/8)

Start Windows and select the printer icon in "Devices and Printers" folder, then click "File"-"Remove device" and delete the printer.
Select any printer, and click "Printer server properties" on Command bar. Click "Drivers" tab in "Printer server properties". Click the old driver name and then click "Remove" button. After select "Remove driver and driver package", click "OK" button to close the window.

Install new version of GDI printer driver with the same step as "(1): Installing at the first time".

After completing above operation, you can use GDI printer driver of new version.

*  Do not extract CD-ROM before the installation is finished. Or some system error might be occurred.

[3]Limitation/Notes in using GDI printer driver

(1) Limitation/Notes in printing (General)

Please make sure "Collate" OFF in the application print dialog before printing.

*

Any colored font is printed in Black or White. It is subject to the font size, the font color and the resolution at printing.

*

Printed result of Gray patterns may be different from the image displayed on PC screen. It depends on an application.

*

Part of image data on PC screen may not be printed. It depends on an application.

*

In using the printer driver of cross platform, be sure to set up the alternate driver to server before the client loads the printer driver.

*

For papers such as envelopes or pre-punched paper, they must be set in a unique direction (opposite direction than usual) in the input tray as the printing result will rotate 180 degrees. In this case, please use [Rotate (or Rotate Image) - 180 degrees] .

*

If the installed printer driver language differs from that of the Operating System, the characters on the printer driver property window may not be displayed properly.

*

If your printer driver has a long Printer Name, the application may suddenly terminate when the printer is selected or when printing has started. To avoid this, be sure to shorten the Printer name of the printer driver beforehand.

Details

1.       If print more than two copies with "Collate:"(can be checked in "Print" dialog), printed result will be incorrect. Please be sure to check off "Collate:" before printing.

 

2.       When printing on nonstandard papers with Microsoft Word, the image may be placed inappropriately

 

3.       If some character could not be printed correctly, check whether there is some invisible object on it or not. In this case, remove the unnecessary object or change the overlay turn of their object.

Details

1.       Some broken line may be printed as a solid line. It depends on the combination of the version of Microsoft Excel and the operating system you use. 

 

2.       Some image with a penetration property may not be printed as the image on PC screen. It depends on the combination of the version of Microsoft Excel and the operating system you use.

Details

1.       Some background fill pattern in chart image may not be printed correctly. It depends on the combination of the version of Microsoft PowerPoint and the operating system you use.

 

2.      Outline characters may be printed with the background color filled in. In this case, clear the "Print in black and white" check box at the lower-left in "Printer Properties."

1.       Paper size set in "Document Setup..." will not be reflected to the driver. Unify the paper sizes which are set in "Document Setup..." and in the driver.

1.       Even though frames are displayed in PC screen, it may not be printed in actual printed result.

1.       Decorative lines of frames may not be printed.

1.       Both setting of "Copies:" which set from Application and driver will be effective, so the output numbers of copies will be the multiplied number of each. Set "Copies:" only from one of application or the driver.

Details

1.       Depending on the combination of Microsoft Internet Explorer and the operating system, even if you surely specified more than two copies using [Collate] enable, the settings you specified become invalid, and then the document may be printed in page batches (P1, P1, P2, P2 ...)

Details

1.       The printer driver dialog opened from CorelDRAW 8 may show unreadable characters, due to a problem in CorelDRAW

 

2.      You can not enter the number of copies greater than 9 in the printer driver dialog opened from CorelDRAW 8, due to a problem in CorelDRAW 8. To print more than 9 copies, set the number of copies in the CorelDRAW 8's print dialog.
